My dental insurance changed at my employer, so I was looking for a new dentist local to me. I scheduled an appointment for a routine cleaning as a new patient. When I came in they wanted to do the cleaning part first, then have me back in a few weeks later for gum measurements since they said they wouldn't be accurate. While I was in the chair I specifically asked several times if this was a regular cleaning and would be billed as such, even though we're doing things out of order. I was assured several times this would be the case (I've had issues with other dentists doing similar in the past). A few weeks later a bill shows up for the cleaning that my insurance won't cover, and upon contacting the office I received no help or explanation whatsoever besides "this is what we did". I'm extremely disappointed and won't be going back to this office, which is a shame because the staff and Dr. were very friendly.
I never had any problems like this in the 3 previous years I was going to Charlick, Springstead & Wilson Dental Associates - I can wholeheartedly recommend them if your insurance will cover it.
Bad Communication and Billing Practices
Dr. Gwynne Attarian is an excellent dentist and she and her staff really care about my teeth. I enjoy the cleanings so much, I go 3 times per year! They have several options for helping with night time clenching and grinding as well!
Short version: I came in for a cleaning, ended up being billed for another service and was told something different sitting in the chair.
Dr. Attarian is wonderful. She is very kind & caring. Dr. Attarian explains treatment and listens to your concerns. I have recommended family & friends to her and will continue to do so.
Dr. Attarian and her entire office staff are exceptional. When I arrived early for my appointment (the first one of the day), Dr. Attarian and her entire staff were have a daily morning staff meeting. I have never heard of such a thing outside of business organizations which, to my knowledge and experience, never included a doctor or dentist office. Needless to say, I was extremely impressed from the get go by that one activity. When I inquired about this later, I was informed that the daily meetings were held in order to discuss issues and how to provide and improve customer service. Again, what a uniquely wonderful concept and practice for a dental office. Perhaps the important thing was the courtesy and professionalism of Dr. Atarrian and her staff. Everyone was pleasant, answered ANY question or concern, and offered counsel and advice in a down-home, friend of the family manner. Dr. Attarain was perhaps the warmest and most considerate dental professional that I have ever met. I also want to mention that a staff member personally called me on the phone two days after my appointment just to inquire as to how I was doing. When has a dental or medical professional ever done that for you? My wife, my daughter and my mother will be patients of Dr. Attarian in the very near future. I would recommend Dr. Attarian to anyone who is seeking professional and compassionate dental care.
